What is the Church of Christ?

What do we believe?

1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God from Genesis to Revelation.

2. God is the creator of all things.

3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

4. Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary, arose from the tomb, and ascended to the Father.

5. The Apostles are the inspired witnesses of Christ.

6. Heaven and Hell are real as taught in Scripture.

7. A person can only be saved through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

8. There is only one Church and that Church is the body and bride of Christ.

9. There will be a day of judgment in which the world will end.

Our Pattern

The Church of Christ patterns itself after the Church of the 1st Century. We call ourselves the Church of Christ because it is a name that is authorized in the New Testament. (Romans 16:16) The Church of Christ is not a denomination. The word denomination denotes division and the Lord never intended for us to be divided. (John 17:17-21, Ephesians 4:4-6) We found all aspects of church organization on the Bible. Churches of Christ can be planted anywhere where hearts seek the truth and use the word of God as the complete guide for the church. for their lives, and for their salvation.

Our Organization

We strive to keep our organization completely devoid of any man-made devices. We have no creeds, oaths, or church constitutions because these are not found in Holy Scripture. We base our organization solely on the Bible. We have elders (I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, Ephesians 4:11-12, Hebrews 13:17, I Peter 5:1-5) and evangelists (Ephesians 4:11-12, II Timothy 4:1-5, Romans 10:14, I Timothy 2:7) to oversee the spiritual needs of the Church. We have deacons (Acts 6:1-6, I Timothy 3:8-13) to oversee the physical needs of the congregation. Each church is self-governing, that is autonomous, answering only to God and Christ through the Word. (Acts 20:28, I Peter 5:2)

Our Worship

Our worship is based on the pattern as set forth in the New Testament. Jesus said in John 4:23, "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers." To worship in spirit means to worship in the right frame of mind and with the right attitude. To worship in truth means to worship in the way in which God has authorized.

New Testament worship includes...

Worshipping on the first day of the week-(Sunday)-Acts 2:1, Acts 20:7, I Corinthians 16:2
